Dimitar Savatinov Returns To Defend His Title
Dimitar Savatinov dominated the 2014 America's Strongest Man with only one event finish outside the top three and multiple 1st place finishes. After dealing with some shoulder and knee problems in the past year, he's back to defend his title this weekend at the 2015 ASM in Atlanta, GA.

Last year's show had six scored event while this year's show has only five. Three of this year's events are repeats from the 2014 show: Max Log Clean & Press, Super Yoke, and Stone Over Bar for Reps.

The Log Clean & Press and Atlas Stone events were strong finishes for Savatinov in 2014. He finished third in the atlas stone event loading the 420 pound stone 4 times in just over 35 seconds, stopping at 4 reps to protect a groin injury:

In the 2014 log clean & press, the event which opened the ASM show, Savatinov set a new American Record with this 460 pound log clean & press:

While these two events will definitely help Savatinov in his quest to repeat as America's Strongest Man, the yoke carry from the 2014 competition was his worst finish of the show and in 2015 it's back with a vengeance.

While the weight is still 950lbs, the distance has increased considerably fro 60' in 2014 to 80' in 2015. This event gave Mitko some trouble in 2014 resulting in a 7th place finish, his worst finish of the competition. With a healthier body, he may be able to give this event more a run.

Dimitar is the real deal. He's competed in a ton of shows including World's Strongest Man and he's definitely got the chops to stand toe to toe with the best. His instagram account has some pretty amazing feats of strength that make up his normal day to day training. Over the past 8 weeks, he's been turning up the training intensity leading into America's Strongest Man. Here are some of my favorites:
