The very first CrossFit Games was a backyard BBQ at the Castro Ranch in Aromas, CA. For the first two years, the Games were a two day event taking place over a Saturday and a Sunday. In 2010, the Games became a three day event, introducing the very first Friday Night Lights in Games history.

In 2012, Castro flipped the script and started the Games on Wednesday, adding in a rest day on Thursday, then continuing the Games through the weekend. Could 2016 be the year when yet another day of competition is announced?

The athletes are required to check in on Monday July 18th, and while the check-in process is lengthy (they've gotta pick up all their tailored Reebok gear, attend several media functions, etc), I wouldn't put it past Dave Castro to find a way to squeeze it all into Monday in order to add an event on Tuesday evening.
