Positive Doping Tests From Rio
According to AP and Polish News, three Polish weightlifters have tested positive for banned substances in Rio and sent home. The first was Krzysztof Szramiak who wasn't on the Polish team for Rio. The other two, however, are the Zielinski brothers Adrian and Tomasz. Tomasz, the 2016 European Champion, was tested when he arrived at the Athlete Village in Rio and has been sent home over his positive test.

Adrian Zielinski, the 2012 Olympic Champion in the Men's 85 division, has yet to be officially removed from competition but Polish sources are stating that he and his brother have both tested positive and won't be competing on Saturday's Men's 94kg session. Update: AP has confirmed that Adrian Zielinski has also tested positive for nandrolone, the same substance his brother Tomasz tested positive for. According to AP, Adrian's positive was from a sample taken at a meet in Poland on July 1st.

Tomasz Zielinski has already been sent home to Poland and we expect Adrian will follow and that neither will compete in the men's 94 A session on Saturday evening.

This comes on the heels of yesterday's news that Taiwan's Lin Tzu-Chi also tested positive in Rio and was removed from the Women's 63kg A session before they got started.

Adrian Zielinski was a podium favorite in the M94 class and the absence of both Zielinski brothers opens up a spot on the podium for either Lithuania's Aurimas Didzbalis or Belarus' Aliaksandr Bernsanau.

After news of Tomasz Zielinski's positive test was confirmed, Szymon Kolecki, the head of the Polish Weightlifting Federation, announced he will be resigning on August 16th, after the Olympics were completed.

The Men's 94kg sessions will take place on Saturday August 13th with the B session (featuring Team USA's Kendrick Farris) beginning at 1:30PM Central and the A session beginning at 5PM Central.
