2017 CrossFit Games Rulebook Released

The 2017 CrossFit Games Rulebook has been released with new scoring rules and cash prizes.

2017 CrossFit Games Rulebook Released
The 2017 CrossFit Games season gets started at the end of February, and the newly updated rulebook and drug-testing program have been officially released.

Among the changes are a new Masters 35-39 division, adjustments to how athletes who fail to submit a score are ranked in comparison to the RX and Scaled divisions, and newly upgraded prize pools to make good on a promise from three years ago. In 2014, title sponsor Reebok announced it would increase the Games' prize purse annually until it hits $3 million in 2020. 

Here are the new CrossFit Games cash prizes:

Top Overall Finish - Individual Athletes (male and female):  
  • ​First place: $285,000  
  • Second place: $100,000  
  • Third place: $70,000  
  • Fourth place: $45,000  
  • Fifth through eighth place: $30,000; $26,000; $24,000 and $22,000, respectively  
  • Ninth through 20th place: $20,000; $18,000; $15,000; $13,000; $12,000; $11,000; $10,000; $9,000; $8,000; $7,000; $6,000 and $5,000, respectively
Top Finish By Event - Individual Athletes (male and female)  
  • ​First place: $3,000  
  • Second place: $2,000  
  • Third place: $1,000
Top Overall Finish - Masters Athletes (male and female, per age division)  
  • ​First place: $10,000  
  • Second place: $5,000  
  • Third place: $3,000
Top Overall Finish - Teams (prize per team)  
  • ​First place: $100,000  
  • Second place: $60,000  
  • Third place: $30,000  
  • Fourth place: $20,000  
  • Fifth place: $15,000
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top performers. All cash prizes will be paid in U.S. dollars.
