In 2012, the CrossFit Games had a bracketed elimination tournament at the Marine Corps Obstacle Course on Camp Pendleton. That was the first and last obstacle course at the CrossFit Games until this year.

According to Dave Castro, there will be a "custom designed obstacle course" in Madison for the 2017 CrossFit Games. In his post, Castro specifically names Rich Froning, Spencer Hendel, Annie Thorisdottir, Chris Spealler, and Neal Maddox as athletes who will compete on the obstacle course at the 2017 Games.

The O-Course in 2012 was run in a bracketed format where heats of four athletes continued to run the same short course over and over. The fastest athletes advanced until there was just one heat which decided the top four:

Those athletes cover a lot of different divisions including the individuals, teams, and masters. So far, we know about two events for the Games: run/swim/run and the bike event and we know for sure that the run/swim/run event will be for all divisions.

With the Games just a few weeks away, we'll be seeing more and more info coming out. Keep your eyes open for all the scoops as we get them.
