2017 Arnold Amateur Strongman

2017 Arnold Amateur Strongman & Pro Strongwoman World Championships
On March 3-5, 2017, Strongman fans and athletes will gather in Ohio for the Arnold Amateur World Championships for both Strongman and Strongwoman.

In Strongwomen competitions, athletes from 120 pounds (54.5kg) -140 pounds (63.5 kg) compete in Lightweight Women, those from 140.5 pounds (63.7 kg) to 180 pounds (81.6kg) compete in Middle Weight Women and those over 180.5 pounds (81.9kg) compete in the Heavy Weight Women category.

For the men, the weight categories are up to 175 pounds (79.4kg) for Lightweight; 175.5 pounds (79.6kg) up to 231.4 pounds (105kg) compete in the Middleweight category and athletes over 231 pounds (105kg) compete in the Heavyweight category.

The first day of competition will consist of four events: Keg Carry and Press, Yoke Carry, 13-Inch Axle Deadlift, and the Axle Press. The following day will consist of two events, the Stone of Steel 5 Stone series and a mystery event that will be revealed a week before the competition via Facebook.

The first place winner in each division will receive a trophy, while other places will earn a medal. In the men’s heavyweight division, first place will also win a spot for the Arnold Pro Stage in Columbus, Ohio, for 2018. The first place finisher in the men’s middleweight division will earn their Pro card. For the women’s divisions, each first place finisher will earn their Pro cards.

All athletes qualify for the Arnold Amateur Strongman World Championships by winning or placing in a national championships conducted by their national federation. U.S. competitors qualified at the North American Strongman National Championships held in Quad Cities, Iowa in October 2016 as well as at a variety of Platinum Plus events held around the world.
