The three things you can count on! Saying “Ben Smith was on a warpath” would dramatize what we all actually witnessed: a professional performing as a professional would.

For the first time, Ben Smith practiced the Regional events, and it clearly showed. His fitness and consistency were on display. It was less of a warpath and more of the unstoppable forward progress of time.

None of us knew Chandler Smith going into the competition, but we sure as hell know who he is now. Raw, and talented, Chandler Smith seemed to be having the most fun on the competition floor and was in the running for a qualifying spot all the way through the final workout.

He walked into the Atlantic Regional with no fame and a handful of fans, and left the arena as one of CrossFit’s brightest stars.

Travis Mayer and Meg Reardon have the worst Day 1 of any Games-qualifying athlete—they each finished the first day with only 104 points, and had to put up monster times in the remaining events. Fortunately for them, they were able to move past their disappointing Day 1 finishes and did what they had to do to qualify.
