4 Things We Learned from the Central Regional
The 2016 CrossFit Games Regionals are over with and while we know who's going to the Games and how they compare, we've also learned some important things from the events themselves. Here are our takeaways from the Central Regional.

Watch Out for Little Panchik

Saxon Panchik came into the weekend after putting in a lot of work since his first Regionals appearance last year. We expected big things from him this weekend after his Open finish, and he didn’t disappoint. Last year, he got 23rd; this year, he took 11th. His average finish jumped up from last year too. In 2015, it was 21; this year, it’s 14.6. What are they feeding those Panchiks?

It’s no surprise that CrossFit Mayhem Freedom had a great weekend. Rich Froning’s team grabbed three event wins and a couple of second and third event finishes sprinkled in. Did anyone happen to notice their lowest event finishes (let’s use the term “lowest” loosely) were events Rich Froning didn’t participate in? They took fifth in Event 4, which was contested by all-female groups. In Event 5 (the male version), they took second. Their lowest event finish of the weekend was in Event 7, where they took 11th. The event was done in a two-male, one-female grouping, sans Froning. But he was part of the group that took third in Event 8. I’m not going to say The Champ could have something to do with it, but…
