Team USA Brings Home More Medals, More Records From Uni Worlds Day 2

Team USA brings home more medals and more records from day 2 of the 2016 FISU University Weightlifting World Championships.

Team USA Brings Home More Medals, More Records From Uni Worlds Day 2
After a successful opening day of competition at the 2016 FISU University Weightlifting World Championships, Team USA is back again with a solid follow up in day 2 with even more American University Records and more medals.

On the men’s side, Aaron Addison (M69) finished sixth overall with a 125kg/275lb snatch and 147kg/324lb clean & jerk.

Angelo Bianco (M77) took silver across both disciplines and the overall with a 140kg/308lb snatch and a 175kg/385lb clean & jerk.

The women representing Team USA also had solid performances. Stephanie Lemmen (W58) took eighth overall with an 87kg/192lb snatch and a 99kg/218lb clean & jerk.

Mary Peck and Cecily Basques both competed in the women’s 63 division. Basques’ 87kg/192lb snatch and 112kg/247lb clean & jerk were good enough to put her in sixth overall.

While Peck’s 113kg/249lb clean & jerk wasn’t enough to give her a podium finish in the total, she ended up taking gold in the snatch and setting two new American University records with her 95kg/210lb snatch and 208kg total.
