After winning the titles in 2016, Ohlsen and Wells both went on to have successful showings at the CrossFit Games with 15th and 6th place finishes respectively. Ohlsen is a local Miami boy and with a competition like Wodapalooza in his backyard he's nearly guaranteed to show up. Wells has had a very successful 2016 and her work with Ben Bergeron seems to be paying off. Expect her to put up a fight at WZA 2017.

Matt Chan, Chris Spealler, and Dan Bailey will be competing at WZA 2017 as Team Tape & Glue, as in "that's all that's holding us together." At 38, 37, and 32 respectively, these three are at or nearing the Masters competition age and each of them had long and successful athletic careers prior to starting their competitive CrossFit days. But don't let that age fool you: these are some bad dudes. Dan Bailey had his most successful showing at the CrossFit Games in 2015 and just barely missed qualifying in 2016 so he's got a chip on his shoulder and both Matt Chan and Chris Spealler have PR'd their strength work in the past couple years.
