Sohrab Moradi Breaks 18-Year-Old World Record

Sohrab Moradi of Iran set a new world record at this year’s Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan. The Rio Olympic champion Moradi snatched 185kg/407lb and clean and jerked 228kg/502lb to surpass Kakhi Kakhiashvili’s world record from 1999.

Sohrab Moradi (94, Iran) set a new world record total with 413kg at this year’s Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan. The Rio Olympic champion Moradi snatched 185kg/407lb and clean and jerked 228kg/502lb for a new world record total at 413kg, surpassing Kakhi Kakhiashvili’s total world record from 1999.
