Harrison Maurus Sets Youth World Record, Wins Gold At 2017 Youth Worlds

Harrison Maurus sets a new youth world record clean & jerk with a 192kg/423lb lift at the 2017 IWF Youth World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.

Team USA's performance at the 2017 IWF Youth World Championships have been none other than amazing. 

Following CJ Cummings and his Youth World Record, Taylor Babbs (63) and Harrison Maurus (77) continue the record breaking streak!  Babbs went 6 for 6 and set a new Youth American Record in the snatch with 83kg/183lb.

Following Babb's performance was Harrison Maurus (77). The anticipation for Maurus to take the stage was met by his monumental moment of setting a new Youth World Record with his 192kg/422lb clean and jerk.

Maurus' performance was more than good enough for gold, taking the top spot by 20kg over second place.

It's not just the men who are crushing it. Team USA's women are still going strong at the Youth World Championships.  

Claire Mackey (69) went 75/77/79kg in the snatch, hit a 94kg clean and jerk and ended with a 173kg total overall to bring her into 10th place. Juliette Chang Fane (63) went 2 for 3 in the snatch hitting 72/75kg and 2 for 3 in the clean and jerk with 93/97kg for a 172kg total. This brought her to 11th place overall. Athena Schrijver (75) finished off the day with a 86kg snatch and went 3 for 3 in the clean and jerking ending with 106kg for a 192kg total, bringing her to 4th place overall.
