The 2026 CrossFit Games qualifying picture continued to take shape this past weekend, with three Semifinal events taking place across the globe: Copa Sur in Brazil, Far East Throwdown in South Korea and the Magic City Games in Birmingham, Alabama.

Copa Sur and Far East Throwdown sent Individual and Team athletes to the CrossFit Games, while Magic City put the spotlight entirely on Masters athletes, giving age-group competitors another in-person stage to earn their spot in San Jose

Copa Sur

Copa Sur featured one of the weekend’s deepest international fields, with two men, two women and one team qualifying for the 2026 CrossFit Games.

The weekend’s programming included six workouts, opening with the longer “Move Max” test and closing with “Last One Standing,” an elimination-style finale that repeated the drama of last year’s closing event.

Magic City Games: Masters Get Their Moment on the Semifinal Stage

While Copa Sur and Far East Throwdown advanced Individual and Team athletes, the Magic City Games provided something different—a dedicated, in-person Semifinal for Masters athletes.

Held in Birmingham, the event gave age-group competitors a direct path to qualify for the CrossFit Games on the competition floor, rather than through online stages alone. With limited spots available in each division, every event carried weight from start to finish.

The format brought Masters athletes into a live, head-to-head environment where placement mattered in real time. For many, it was an opportunity to compete under the same conditions as the Individual field—on a live stage, against a full field, with immediate consequences on the leaderboard.

“This weekend was a special one for the Magic City CrossFit Semifinal,” said event director Micah Shoemaker. “From the athletes on the floor to the energy in the arena, it was a weekend full of big moments, hard efforts, and a community that showed up in a major way. Partnering with FloElite for our broadcast this weekend was an incredible experience. Not only did they provide the technical support we needed, but they were also a true partner throughout the entire process. We're excited about the future.”

By the end of the weekend, qualifiers across all age groups had earned their spots through in-person competition, marking a continued shift toward greater visibility and opportunity for Masters athletes within the CrossFit Games season.
