This year marks the 20th anniversary of the competition, the return of the legendary Ranch, the revival of the original Hopper, and six days of competition featuring Elite Individuals, Teams, Masters, Teenage and Adaptive athletes.
Whether you've followed CrossFit for years or you're tuning in for the first time, here are four reasons this year's Games are worth watching on FloElite.
How To Watch The 2026 CrossFit Games
CrossFit Games Celebrates 20 Years
The 2026 CrossFit Games aren't just another championship. They're a celebration of a competition that has progressed over 20 years. Organizers are marking the occasion by bringing back some of the competition's most iconic traditions.
- The Games began in 2007 at The Ranch in Aromas, California.
- This year's programming intentionally revisits that first competition through classic workouts and venues.
- It's a chance to see today's elite athletes tackle some of the same tests that helped define the sport nearly two decades ago.
Individual Competition Returns to The Ranch
Long before the Games filled arenas, they were held on a dusty California ranch. This year, the individual competition heads back to where it all began.
- The Ranch hosts Ranch 7200, a 7,200-meter trail run that opens the individual competition.
- Individual athletes will once again compete there before the competition moves to the SAP Center in San Jose.
- The outdoor setting also creates a different challenge than the arena floor, testing pacing, terrain, and endurance.
Both Hoppers Make an Appearance
If you've been a fan of the CrossFit Games since day one, you know exactly what the Hopper is. For the uninitiated, here's the quick version: the original Hopper was a metal drum filled with workout elements that were randomly drawn to create an event. That first workout eventually became known as the Hopper workout.
- The 2026 Games bring that tradition back in two different ways.
- Athletes will first complete the "2007 Hopper" event, a recreation of the workout created at the inaugural Games.
- During Friday's Opening Ceremony, the original Hopper returns to randomly draw another workout that athletes will tackle later that night.
Every Division Shares Championship Week
One of the things that makes the CrossFit Games unique is that championship week brings every division together in one host city.
- Masters, Teenage, and Adaptive athletes compete at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.
- Elite Individuals begin at the historic Ranch before the Individual and Team competitions move to the SAP Center for championship weekend.
- Every division crowns its own champions, giving fans six days of competition across the CrossFit community.
The division dates are:
- Masters: July 21-23
- Individuals: July 22-26
- Teams: July 23-26
- Teenage: July 24-26
- Adaptive: July 24-26

Why Are The CrossFit Games On A Subscription Service?
The mission at FloSports is to grow our sports every day, and our model will work for CrossFit and the CrossFit community by providing the direct investment needed for the sport and the type of exposure via content and marketing that will expand its reach.
A subscription model is needed to create a sustainable business that can support FloSports and CrossFit growth, but we will be making a significant amount of CrossFit content and athletes available across social media and our many free distribution channels.
We have created a mix of free and subscription-based access to CrossFit content and competitions to give everyone in the CrossFit community different ways to follow the sport.
