The first events of the 2026 CrossFit Games for the Team division have officially been revealed, and they'll challenge athletes with a combination of brute strength and gymnastics precision.
CrossFit announced that Team Events 1 and 2 will take place on Barack Obama Boulevard outside the SAP Center in San Jose, giving fans a chance to watch the opening tests for free. The events feature the return of the iconic Big Bob sled and a fast-paced Handstand Course Relay.

The two-event opener will immediately test teamwork, communication and versatility as teams tackle one of the heaviest implements in CrossFit before shifting to a gymnastics-focused relay.
Team Event 1: Big Bob Sled Push
The opening event marks the return of Big Bob, one of the most recognizable implements in CrossFit Games history.
Originally introduced in 2012, Big Bob is a massive multi-person sled created by Rogue Fitness that has become synonymous with team competition. Depending on the configuration, the sled can weigh anywhere from roughly 670 pounds to more than 900 pounds, requiring multiple athletes to work together to push and pull it across the competition course.
Unlike a traditional sled push, Big Bob demands synchronization as teammates generate force together while maintaining momentum. Success often comes down to communication, pacing and raw lower-body strength.
Team Event 2: Handstand Course Relay
After the strength test of Event 1, teams will immediately transition to a gymnastics challenge.
The Handstand Course Relay requires athletes to complete sections of a handstand obstacle course before tagging the next teammate. The event emphasizes shoulder stability, body control, balance and efficient movement while upside down.
Handstand relays have appeared in previous CrossFit competitions, rewarding teams that can minimize mistakes while maintaining speed through technical sections of the course.
A Contrast In Testing To Start The CrossFit Games 2026
The first two events showcase the broad range of fitness required to succeed at the CrossFit Games.
Opening with Big Bob places a premium on power, teamwork and work capacity before athletes pivot to one of the sport's most technical movement patterns in the handstand relay.
The dramatic shift between events means teams cannot rely solely on strength or gymnastics ability. Instead, success will come from fielding a complete roster capable of performing across vastly different demands.
Where To Watch Team Events 1 And 2
Both events will take place on Barack Obama Boulevard outside the SAP Center in San Jose, allowing spectators to watch the opening Team competition from the street course.
The 2026 CrossFit Games continue throughout the week with Individual, Team, Masters, Teenage and Adaptive competition streamed live on FloElite.
