The 5th Annual Russian Federation President's Cup is still going on, but we've already witnessed two new World Records, a new American Record, and a return to competition for one of Team USA's best talents.

Ilya Ilyin Sets Two New World Records In Clean & Jerk And Total, Wins Gold By Over 20kg

Ilya Ilyin is a legend and arguably the greatest weightlifter of all time. He's never gotten anything other than GOLD in any international competition he's competed in regardless of weight class, and this year's Russian President's Cup is no different. At the 2014 World Championships in his home country of Kazakhstan, Ilya debuted in a new weight class (M105kg) and proceeded to set a World Record Clean & Jerk at 242kg/534lbs in order to win gold. 

Today at the President's Cup, Ilya smashed his own World Record with a 246kg/542lb clean & jerk which combined with his 191kg/421lb snatch to also give him the World Record in the Total as well! Check it out:

Norik Vardanian Puts Together Masterful Performance, Sets Two New American Records In The Snatch And Total

Norik Vardanian (M94kg), also competed at the Russian President's Cup today and broke Jared Fleming's 170kg/374lb snatch record with a 171kg/376lb lift. He also put together a great performance in the Clean & Jerk, finishing with a 202kg/445lb lift and setting a new American Record in the Total finishing with 373kg. Check out his lifts:

Ian Wilson Returns To International Competition

Ian Wilson (M105kg) is young and talented, and has made his return to international competition after a shoulder injury sidelined him for way too long. He finished with a 162kg/357lb snatch and a 195kg/430lb clean & jerk at the Russian President's Cup.
