Although the medals didn't come back with the red, white, and blue Monday, Team USA still had a strong overall showing at the IWF Youth World Championships on the fifth day of competition in Penang, Malaysia. In the men's division, Kolton Koontz and Jaden Washington finished in the top 15 of the -85kg weight class. Koontz captured 12th place and Washington took 14th overall.

On the women's side, Athena Schrijver and Madison Stenbo finished back-to-back in the top 10, ending up in seventh and eighth place, respectively. Madison Stenbo's 87kg snatch would also break the youth American record, which was set in 2006.
