USA Weightlifting Announces 2017 Senior Pan Am Squads

Now that the 2017 National Championships are wrapped up, USA Weightlifting has used the results to rank the top male and female lifters in the US and name the squads for Senior Pan Ams in July. Here they are:

Men's Squad

Derrick Johnson - 62kg
Jordan Wissinger 69kg
Angelo Bianco - 77kg
Harrison Maurus - 77kg
James Tatum - 85kg
Colin Burns - 94kg
Nathan Damron - 94kg
Wesley Kitts - 105kg
D’Angelo Osorio - 105kg
Ethan Harak - +105kg
Caine Wilkes - +105kg

Women's Squad


Alyssa Ritchey - 48kg
Kathleen Winters - 48kg
Cortney Batchelor - 53kg
Caitlin Hogan - 53kg
Jessica Lucero - 58kg
Mary Peck - 63kg
Mattie Rogers - 69kg
Amy Hay - 75kg
Taylar Stallings - 75kg
Ali Ludwig - 90kg

From these 12 men and 12 women USAW will name 8 men and 8 women to the competition team for Pan Ams. The final team is selected much closer to the competition, usually based on ability to medal based on their totals compared to historic podium worthy totals at international events.

"Pocket Hercules" Naim Suleymanoglu Has Passed Away

Legendary weightlifter Naim Suleymanoglu, also known as Pocket Hercules, has passed away at the age of 50.
