The 2017 Summer Universiade is underway in Taipei, Taiwan! Om Yun Chol (56, North Korea) came out strong snatching 129kg/284lb and attempting a new world record with 172kg/378lb. This attempt was over three times Chol's bodyweight!

His lifts were good enough for 5 new FISU Universiade records and gold as well.

Om Yun Chol is the current world record holder in the M56 clean & jerk, with a 171kg/376lb lift from the 2015 IWF World Championships. The 25-year-old took second at the 2016 Rio Olympics, which is the first international event he hasn't taken gold in since he won the 2012 Olympics from the B session.
