Mattie is currently enrolled in a weightlifting class (totally awesome right?) but may actually fail out because of the time she has to take in order to represent Team USA at worlds this year.

Luckily for her, USA Weightlifting and its CEO Phil Andrews have her back and have provided her with a letter for her teacher asking to excuse her absence:

The full text of the letter reads as follows:
Please excuse Mattie Rogers from class 11/28-12/5 as she represents the home team, Team USA, at the World Weightlifting Championships in Anaheim, California.
Yours in Sport,
CEO of USA Weightlifting
So basically Mattie Rogers -- one of the best known and most accomplished weightlifters in the U.S. -- needs a note from the CEO of USA Weightlifting in order to be excused from missing weightlifting class because she'll be representing Team USA at the Weightlifting World Championships. Makes sense, I guess.
It remains to be seen whether this strategy works, but if a note from the CEO of USAW doesn't get her off the hook, maybe she can just show off the medals she earns at the competition as proof that she gets a thing or two about weightlifting.
