Two-time CrossFit Games athlete Carly Fuhrer will be sitting out the 2018 CrossFit Games season in order "enjoy life [and] go back to school," saying that "competing isn't what I need."
Fuhrer took 37th at the 2016 Games and 31st at the 2017 Games. While she hasn't performed incredibly well on that stage, she's still one of the best CrossFitters in the world with a top-10 finish in the plow event in 2016.
The new, giant West Coast Regional will now be just a little easier to qualify out of. It certainly won't be easier, but without a Regional powerhouse like Fuhrer competing, there may be an opening for another athlete.
