Reebok Nano 2.0 Review

Reebok Nano 2.0 Review

You’ve probably heard some CrossFit hipster mention the Reebok Nano 2.0s as the best Nanos Reebok ever made, but is that just a case of rose-colored glasses -- or are the Nano 2.0s actually that good?

The Reebok Nano 2.0s were Reebok’s second shot at making CrossFit specific shoes, and they really hit the mark. They have a classic look, are very comfortable, and are the first shoe truly versatile enough for everything we are doing in the gym.

When they were first released, the Nano 2.0s were easily the best shoe for a CrossFitter and nothing really compared. Now, five years later, there are dozens of shoes for functional fitness. Not only is the quality of shoes better, but the things which define a fitness shoe have changed.

Of the current generation of shoes, the Nike Metcon 3s are probably the best. They’ve got a solid sole, great construction, fit the foot very well, and look fantastic. The Nano 2.0s are from a different time. They’re not a stiff as the Metcon 3s or even the Nano 7 Weaves. Instead, they’re supple, very breathable, and very flexible.

These days, if the Nano 2.0s were to be released as a new shoe, they’d have more in common with the Reebok Speed TR or the Nike Metcon DSX Flyknit: shoes which trade stiffness and density in the sole for a softer heel and a more comfortable fit.

That said, the Nano 2.0s are exactly how I remember them to be: light, bendy, breathable, and comfortable for long periods of time. They are useful and appropriate whether I'm lifting, running, or hitting a fast and hard workout.

The wide toebox is nice, giving my feet plenty of room to spread and move when necessary, and the flexibility of the soles means my feet never get overly tired or strained during workouts with running or jumping.

Overall, they’re fantastic and are still my favorite all-time fitness shoe. They’re tough to find and marked up a bit (although I've heard a rumor they may return in some capacity), but if you’re looking for a throwback shoe with incredible functionality, the Reebok Nano 2.0s should be your jam.
