Gear Geek: Reebok Nano 6.0 Review

Gear Geek: Reebok Nano 6.0 Review

Reebok invented the functional fitness shoe market and has spent the past 6 years refining their approach. The Nano 6.0 is the most recent product of that evolution and it is fantastic.

Looks & features

The Nano 6.0 are recognizable as Nanos, yet they change up some of the most notable features of past Nanos. You won’t find a ton of CrossFit branding on these shoes, nor does it have the superwide toebox of the previous Nanos. Instead, the shoes have one small “Reebok CrossFit” logo and a large, reflective Reebok delta logo on the side.

Aesthetically, these are my second favorite Nanos behind the 2.0. They’ve got a familiar profile, and little details, like the off-center and angled tongue, make them look and feel cool.

Like previous Nanos, these are shoes created for CrossFit and it checks all the boxes to meet the varied demands of competitive exercise: wide toebox for stability, stiff and dense heel for weightlifting, rugged inserts on the soles for rope climbs, breathable and durable uppers.

On top of those classic features of a “CrossFit” shoe, the Nano 6.0 adds new features. The most notable of these new features is the griptape-like cross hatching on the inside of the shoe. This addition not only hugs your foot it provides excellent grip for rope climbs.

Fit & feel

While the toebox on the Nano 6.0 is expectedly wide, it’s not as wide as previous Nanos; it provides enough room for your forefoot to breathe and is still wide enough to give a strong and stable base.

The rest of the shoe hugs the foot, thanks to the new griptape in the upper, the tongue construction, and the molded heel. Even with the shoes untied, my feet stayed in the shoe without too much trouble.

Performance

In terms of function, Reebok has made the best pure CrossFit shoe on the market. It’s a fantastic combination of form and function. During my testing, there wasn’t a single movement where they slipped up or provided subpar stability. From running, to rope climbs, to volume weightlifting, to heavy squats and pulls, the Nano 6.0 took it all on with verve.

In the Nano 6.0, Reebok has combined the aesthetics of the Nano 2.0, the rugged durability of the 3.0 and 4.0, and the light weight and breathability of the 5.0 with an evolutionary approach to features and build. They’re made to take on exactly what we’re doing day in and out: constantly varied functional movement at high intensity.
