New IWF Doping Cases

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) released the names of 11 more athletes who tested positive in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reanalyses of samples from the 2012 London Olympics.

They include:

  • Intigam Zairov (M94) (Azerbaijan)
    • 2012 Olympics = 6th place
  • Nataliya Zabolotnaya (W75) (Russia)
    • 2012 Olympics = Silver
  • Rauli Tsirekidze (M85) (Georgia)
    • 2012 Olympics = 9th place
  • Almas Uteshov (M94) (Kazakhstan)
    • 2012 Olympics = 7th place
  • Svetlana Tzarukaeva (W63) (Russia)
    • 2012 Olympics = Silver
  • Sibel Simsek (W63) (Turkey)
    • 2012 Olympics = 4th place
  • Iryna Kulesha (W75) (Belarus)
    • 2012 Olympics = Bronze
  • Hripsime Khurshudyan (W+75) (Armenia)
    • 2012 Olympics = Bronze
  • Alexandr Ivanov (M94) (Russia)
    • 2012 Olympics = Silver
  • Cristina Iovu (W53) (Moldova)
    • 2012 Olympics = Silver
  • Andrey Demanov (M94) (Russia)
    • 2012 Olympics = 4th place

Rauli Tsirekidze was listed on the Rio start list as a M94, the same division as Team USA's Kendrick Farris. In 2012, both Farris and Tsirekidze competed as M85's, Farris took 10th and Tsirekidze took ninth.
