The Rope Chipper time to beat exchanged hands throughout heats, but going into the final heat it was held by Marcus Filly with a time of 7:58:11.

In the final heat, Ben Smith held a lead on Mat Fraser relatively early in the event, but Fraser had no need to win the event, just finish. Josh Bridges cruised through the event until the sled pull. When Brent Fikowski got to the sled he destroyed the existing time to beat, putting himself in a very real position to stand on the podium in his rookie year. When asked about it after the event he said, "It would be pretty great. I'm just trying to do my best...Wherever that sits me at the end of the weekend is where I belong." Bridges ended up finishing 21st in the event after getting stuck on the sled pull.

Smith finished the event in fifth and Fraser in 10th, but the points didn't matter. Mathew Fraser was crowned the Fittest Man On Earth with a 175 point lead over Ben Smith going into the final event. Patrick Vellner and Brent Fikowski still fight for the third podium spot. Vellner sits 26 points ahead of Fikowski.
