After weeks of intense workouts, the first CrossFit Team Series concluded with Team Reebok East claiming the top slot and $30,000 in prize money. Rogue Fitness Red and Rogue Fitness Black rounded out the top three positions, taking home $25,000 and $20,000, respectively.
“It’s official!” Stacie Tovar posted on social media after CrossFit officials announced her team had clinched the No. 1 spot. “Thank you Reebok for supporting our team over the past three months. We had an absolute blast and are so so grateful for everything.”
Announced in May, the Team Series featured three separate competitions, requiring two male and two female athletes to complete a series of four workouts over a period of four days. More than 1,200 teams across the globe elected to compete in the Rx division of the competition, with another 1,000-plus teams competing in the scaled or masters divisions.
In the first week of competition, which began Aug. 28, athletes had to complete a series of 30 double-unders and 15 power snatches at 75- and 55-pounds for males and females within a 12-minute time cap; work through a 30-20-10 progression of 95- and 65-pound thrusters and chest-to-bar pull-ups for time; set a three-rep max for their front squat; and complete a relay of a 30-calorie row, 30 bar-facing burpees and 30 135- and 95-pound hang cleans.
The second round of competition put athletes through workouts featuring 150 wall balls, 110 cleans and 50 muscle-ups; 50 deadlifts and 50 handstand push-ups; a relay of 21-15-9 of overhead squats at 115- and 75-pounds and toes-to-bar; and a two-rep max bench press.
Final events in the third round of competition pushed athletes in a relay of burpee box jumps and squat cleans; max chest-to-bar pull-ups; 100 double-unders, 100 front squats and 100 push presses at 115- and 75-pounds; and a 10-minute AMRAP of 20-rep snatches at progressively heavier weights.
“This picture sums up how terrible that set of 18 was in the CrossFit Team Series squat clean workout,” Scott Panchik of Team Reebok East wrote on Instagram.
"We definitely don't want it to be over,” said Emily Bridgers via a CrossFit Games media post. “Hopefully we can at least do it again next year."
