How many times do you think you could squat your bodyweight in 5 minutes? What if I put you in a room with four other badasses, including a World Record holding powerlifter, a strongman, and an Olympic cyclist and told you you're out if you drop the bar? Bodybuilding Rev found out:
From their own description:
Squats are tough. Squatting 5 minutes in a row with your bodyweight on the bar hunted by world class athletes is brutal. The minimum weight is 85kg and has to be cleaned and pressed to your neck. The set has to be unbroken. Enjoy!
The competitors are...
Mostovenko won, squatting 90kg/198lb 87 times in 5 minutes. He's got a 300kg/660lb squat so we're talking about taking 30% of your max squat for a five minute ride, which still sounds awful. Of note is Olympian Robert Förstemann who is well known for having ridiculously huge quads. He weighed in at 95.4kg/210lb with a reported max squat of 275kg/606lb and squatted his bodyweight 72 times in the five minute window.
If you give this a shot, let us know by tagging us in the video and hitting us up with your weight used and total reps!
