South Regional Day 2 Recap: Making Moves
After two days of competition, #TeamDensity from CrossFit Overtake remains on top of the leaderboard, but Pillar CrossFit is knocking on the door. With a dominating 1st and 2nd place finish in the last two events today, Pillar finds themselves only 15 points behind #TeamDensity. Rockwell CrossFit, CrossFit Omnia, and Backcountry Black finish out the top 5, but with 300 points up for grabs tomorrow, the field is far from set.

Experience was the name of the game on the men’s side with last year’s qualifiers Adrian Conway, Travis Williams, and Jordan Cook turning in stellar performances across the board. Conway and Williams have both moved themselves into qualifying spots and Cook is well within striking distance of the top 5. Dark horse, Logan Collins pulled out a 9th place finish in Event 5, doing all his 405lb deadlifts unbroken, enough to keep him in 5th place.

The most impressive performances of the day on the women’s side came from Candice Wagner and Tennil Reed. Reed smoked the pull-ups on Event 3, becoming the first girl to do so under the time cap and taking the event win. That, coupled with a 3rd place finish on Event 5, has catapulted her from 14th place to 6th place and put her in a good position to qualify. Wagner, who took last year off from competition, has come back on the scene to dominate. She had a shaky start this morning, turning in a 16th place finish on Event 3, but cruised to a 3rd place spot on the leaderboard after going unbroken on all sets of 275lb deadlifts in Event 5 solidifying the event win.
