The couple of couplets that make up Events 3 and 4 nearly sank the Games hopes of two of the top 5 going into Day 2.

Alanna Fisk and Sarabeth Phillips were both in the top 5 coming into these events and each barely made the minimum work necessary in Event 3 to even stay in the competition.

Each had impressive finishes in Event 4, with Alanna Fisk breaking Kara Webb’s Event Record with a time of 13:42.

Anna Tunnicliffe made a big move in these events, moving herself up the leaderboard into the top three with 8th place finishes in both events.

While these events shook up the leaderboard between 3rd and 10th, Emily Bridgers moved her lead up even higher with two consistent finishes on these events.

Only 26 points separate 3rd from 10th and only 37 points separates 3rd from 12th, so with three scored events remaining we still have a close race.

Games veterans Cassidy Lance, Talayna Fortunato, and Christy Adkins have some ground to make up in the remaining events as they’re currently placed 6th, 7th, and 11th respectively.

Fortunato had a great showing on Event 3, winning with a time of 5:43, but just couldn't stay with it during Event 4 and finished that event in 30th place.
