The IOC's decision and process here may shed some light on how the IWF will proceed with sanctions for the dozens of positive tests from the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. The IOC has asked IWF to adjust the results from the 2012 Olympics and also "consider" further sanctions against Aukhadov, which would be retroactive from the time of the test. This may lead to Aukhadov losing his gold medals from the 2013 World Championships and European Championships but wouldn't necessarily have any effect on his more recent performances, including his bronze medal from the 2015 World Championships.
Aukhadov's silver medal in 2012 was a result of a bodyweight tie in the 85kg division with Poland's Adrian Zielinski, who didn't compete at the 2016 Olympics due to a positive test in July. The bodyweight tiebreaker has since been removed from competition.
