Spots at the Olympics are earned through a complicated qualifying process which includes multiple channels of entry. The way to earn the most spots is through performances as a team at World Championships, but individuals spots can be earned through continental qualifiers.
The fact that Team USA has earned spots to the Youth Olympics through the World Championships is a result of at least couple years of solid performances at these world events and it also bodes well for the future of Team USA.
