Rich Froning's Solution To The New 4 Person Teams Is The Best
Rich Froning is taking inspiration from Michael Bay's 1998 blockbuster Armageddon to deal with the new four person teams at the CrossFit Games.
It's been a pretty crazy week for affiliates putting together super teams for the 2018 CrossFit Games. The same week Mayhem announced CrossFit Game veteran Tasia Percevecz as their newest member, Dave Castro announced that teams will go from six members to four for the 2018 season. So what does the six-time CrossFit Games Champion do?
This quick video shows two team names: Independence and Freedom. It seems likely that Rich Froning and Mayhem will be fielding two teams of four in 2018 instead of one team of six.
It's not 100 percent clear where the names Independence and Freedom come from, but my guess is Armageddon may have been an inspiration. With that in mind, I'd be wary of being on Team Independence considering what happened to them in the movie (caution, spoilers for a 19-year-old movie incoming).
The dreams of an entire planet are focused this season on those eight brave souls traveling into the heavens. And may we all, citizens the world over, see these events through. Godspeed, and good luck to you, Mayhem.
