Malitsky Stars In Role Reversal At Xtreme Top Box
By Lauryn Lax Dylan Malitsky of Peak 360 CrossFit in Miami, Florida is used to typically emceeing fitness competitions with Team Progenex or organizing big competitions, such as Wodapalooza, happening the weekend of January 16-18th in Miami, Florida. This weekend, however, Malitsky was in on the action of the Xtreme Top Box team competition in Ft. Lauderdale alongside 9 other competitors, as part of Team Anabolic Gardens. The powerhouse team, of five girls and five guys, took first place in all but the sixth and final workout, over the course of the two-day competition. Their lead sky rocketed them to first place overall when the weekend was said in done, followed by the Boyton Squad (2nd) and Team NF Sports (3rd). Team Anabolic Gardens’ roster consisted of: *Dylan Malitsky (35th @ 2014 South East Regionals) * Aaron Hanna (8th @ 2014 South East Regionals) * Hannah Richards (4th @ 2014 South East Regionals) * Nick Pennizotto- (Team for Gardens CrossFit @ 2014 South East Regionals) * Caroline Dardini (14th @ 2014 South East Regionals) * Diana Green (Team for CrossFit Unmatched @ 2014 South East Regionals) * Megan Monberg (Team for CrossFit Unmatched @ 2014 South East Regionals) * Gary Jones (from the North East Region) * Colleen Lehane- (11th @ 2014 South East Regionals & Owner of CrossFit Crucible * Norman Woodring (From the South East Region) Malitsky said this was the first time the team had competed all together. “Honestly, we haven't really competed all together before, so we didn’t really have a plan of attack,” Malitsky said, adding, “However, while we didn't have a clear strategy coming into the weekend, we are all pretty well-rounded in athleticism and this was a bunch of some intelligent athletes too. We sat down for at least 20-30 minutes before each workout to specifically strategize in terms of rep-schemes, and who was hitting what portions of what workouts. Our strategies paid off,” Malitsky said. As for notable performances, Maltisky says the team’s “well-roundedness” is actually where the weekend was won. “Honestly, I can't really say so. I think what made us stand out, is that our team was good at a little bit of everything, as I mentioned. We won because there was not one noticeable weak-link on our team. Any one of our athletes could step in and complete any task,” Malitsky said. While the team claimed the $21,000 purse at the end of the weekend, and gained an even greater gift—multiple training partners. “I can almost guarantee you'll see the 10 of us training together and competing again soon,” Malitsky said.
