    The Road to Minnesota for the 2018 Kill Cliff Granite Games begins in earnest this week with the announcement of the first of three qualifying workouts. Fitness athletes across the globe will tackle the weekly qualifying tests — spanning from now to July 2 — with the shared goal of joining the 2,000 strong slated to compete September 7-9 in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Nine total regions will be contested across the globe over the next three weeks to determine which five athletes per region (Meridian Regional will have four qualifiers, Latin America will get one) are fit enough to move on to August’s Crossfit Games. Everybody who’s anybody will be testing themselves over the next month in a grueling series of six events to try to punch their tickets to Madison, Wisconsin, for the Games in early August.

    At the end of 2015, there were rumors surrounding Sara Sigmundsdottir moving to a new region. Specifically, she was aiming for California.  During that process, though, she ended up in Cookeville, Tennessee, throughout the Open and won the 2017 CrossFit Games Open while living and training there. Since she can't live in one region and compete in another, HQ moved her from California to Central for Regionals.
