What an EPIC competition!
China's Long Qingquan, the 2008 Gold medalist, was forced to set two new Olympic Records and a new World Record in order to take gold over Om Yun Chol (PRK) who was the overwhelming favorite coming into the Olympics.
With a new World Record Total and Olympic Records in the Total and Clean & Jerk, Qingquan, 25, takes the stage as the man to beat in this division.
Third place went to Thailand's Sinphet Kruaithong after podium contender Kim Tuan Thach (VIE) bombed out on the clean & jerks. If the other divisions are even half as exciting as this, it'll be an epic Summer Olympics.
